It is very incorrect to have salt free diet, as sodium levels and potassium levels are equally important in the cell. These two fluids are present in and outside of a cell. A proper concentration of these elecrolytes helps maintain the osmotic balance and keep cells in proper shape. Sodium is lost in urine and sweat, so salt intake is essential in one's diet.
