Low-carb diet contains fewer amounts of carbohydrates but more amounts of proteins and fats. Unlike proteins, carbohydrates are an efficient fuel.
On a low carbohydrate/high protein diet, even though total energy is conserved, more energy is wasted as heat, a process known as thermo genesis. which comes from burning fats.
Many people are sensitive to the effects of carbohydrates and for them, a low carb diet is going to work well.
Stick to one diet plan
No single diet plan works for everybody and not many people stick to a diet plan which suits them. That's why the diet plans fail. Only 25 % people stick to the diet plan for a year.
In a research, four groups of 40 people (obese adults), each were asked to follow a particular diet plan - Atkins low carb diet, Ornish vegetarian, Weight watcher plan, or the Zone Diet according to person's health. It was found that who(only 25%) followed the diet plan for more than a year, it worked well for obesity, heart problems.
