Parivrtta means "revolving". In yoga, poses with 'Parivrtta' as a prefix, refers to those poses which twist the body. How to practise this asana? Stand with feet a meter apart. Holds hands at shoulder length. Turn right foot so it is at right angles to body, with the left at 70 degrees to torso. Now Inhale. Exhaling, twist and bend down so the left hand touches right foot. Initially you may have to bend your knees since most people have tight hamstring muscles which resist such. Advanced practitioners must not bend in knees, with practice one must be able to touch the floor with palm. Remain in this pose breathing normal. Repeat on other side also. Try to be in this pose with each leg as long as 1 min. as you practise more this is possible. Initially do it thrice if unable to holo it for about 1 min. Parivrtta trikonasana helps you get rid of digestive problems and also helps to strengthen the sense of balance. Good practice of this asana will help you in weight loss. |
